چکیده

Background and Aims: Two dimensional transthoracic echocardiography (2DE) is widely used for detecting congenital heart disease possible to obtain precise measurement of Patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) device selection required transcatheter closure. Primary aim the study determine whether echocardiographic assessment alone can be closure PDA.
Methods: Children with PDA planned intervention were included in this cross-sectional one year. was assessed 2DE prediction size made.
Results: The results obtained from 107 children. median age weight at 3.8 years (ranging 6 months to14 years) 12 kg 3.5 60 kg). Type A (Conical) commonest morphology accounting 87.8% 85% angiography respectively. There no difference (p < 0.05) narrowest diameter pulmonary end measured by angiography, however ampulla ductal length statistically different = 0.95). predicted discordant actual a total population, when patients severe hypertension, non-type larger (narrowest > 6mm) excluded, concordant 0.1) 89 (83%) patients.
Conclusion: Transthoracic may helpful choosing during selective group patients.

Transcatheter Closure of Patent Ductus Arteriosus

Background The USCI PDA Umbrella is a device to close patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) by a transcatheter technique. Human clinical trials have shown excellent efficacy in reducing or eliminating the PDA shunt, but concerns remain about the risk of infection with this device. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the risk of infection using an animal model. Methods and Results Susceptibility ...

Transcatheter Closure of Patent Ductus Arteriosus

Patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) constitutes 6 to 11% of all congenital heart defects. While surgical ligation and video-assisted, thoracoscopic interruption of PDA are still available, transcatheter occlusion of PDAs has recently assumed a major role in closure of PDA. A large number of devices have been designed and tested both in animal models and human subjects, but only few devices (free and...

More than three decades have passed since the introduction of transcatheter devices for closure of patent ductus arteriosus, and many occluders have been made available since then. The ideal requirements of any procedure are a user-friendly technique, optimum success rate, no residual anomaly, minimal morbidity/mortality, and comparability or superiority to the existing conventional modality of...

Transcatheter closure of the patent ductus arteriosus.

Patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) is one of the most common congenital heart defects. Although surgery is still required in symptomatic neonates, the majority of older infants and children can undergo safe and effective transcatheter device closure on an out-patient basis. First described in 1967, over the past four decades, numerous devices have been specifically developed for this purpose. This ...
